In Arizona, Member Profiles, Thinking of Moving to Vallarta, US, Where We are From

Status: Single

Employed or Retired: Retired

Where are you living now / where are you from: I’ve been freezing up here in Payson, AZ for the last three months. I made my way there from Panama where I lived for the last 10 years. It’s a long story!

Timeframe for a move: Tomorrow wouldn’t be soon enough, but I can’t really leave here till May.

Where else are you considering: Right now – nowhere else but Puerto Vallarta. I lived in Centro Historico in Mazatlan for three months last year and I loved it. Panama doesn’t work for me anymore. I want to live by the ocean, but I don’t want to own a car.

Why Vallarta: I think it might be the best of all possible worlds. I am looking for beaches, lush vegetation, and a municipal market where I can finally buy good food again.

How can ExPats in Vallarta assist you:  If anyone knows an agent who handles health insurance through Mexican insurance companies, I would really appreciate getting an e-mail address. I’m not poverty stricken – but I really don’t want to pay $500.00 a month for insurance. Yipes! Thanks!

Hi Cindy. You have picked the right spot. We have lived her almost 12 years and would never move anywhere else. We have a very active Expat community with tons of stuff to do. It is very safe here and we have about 35,000 to 50,000 fullime expats here. There is a great fruit/vegetable market where prices are reasonable. This is winter so its very cold here as I type this with my shirt off. Hehe. I have an insurance agent here and she is from the USA and very honest. My e-mail for that information is fstphoen@juno.com or HisWillHisWillMinistriespv@gmail.com

Hello Cindy. I am also retired and spent 7.5 years in Panama City. Currently, I am in Las Vegas but planning a couple of exploratory trips to Vallarta. Our paths probably crossed in Panama.
