Employed or Retired: Semi-retired

Where did you live previously: I’m a California native and have lived most of my life there. Spent six years living in England and France. Most recently, I lived in Key West, Florida for eight years..

What part of town do you live in: Southside

Why did you decide to move to Vallarta: I love the Mexican culture, the weather, the warm, friendly people. Having traveled extensively, I selected Puerto Vallarta for it’s charm and practicality.

What were the main reason(s) you moved here: Charm, and economical practicality.

What are the top (3) things you have learned that you think might help someone moving to Vallarta now:

  1. Attempt to learn Spanish. Mexicans love Americans that make an effort to speak their language. Take classes, hire a private tutor. Do whatever it takes to be a good guest.
  2. Be nice to your Mexican neighbors and they will be nice to you.
  3. Have a professional deal with getting your immigration paperwork in order.

    Hi Donald,

I appreciated your comments on the website. I am just starting to look into PV as a place to move with my soon-to-be 17-year-old daughter. We will hopefully move in July but need help with moving with our two rescued rabbits and two rescued chickens who are our babies. Do you thing that the attorney whom you mentioned might be able to help us get permission to bring them to PV and w/o putting them into quarantine?

    All the best,

    Carol

    Hi Donald,
Hope you are doing very well.
I have lived in San Francisco for more than 15 years, own a Spanish language school in the city and I am considering the option
to live part time in SF and somewhere else in Latin America and I think that Puerto Vallarta would a great option, since I am planning to teach Spanish to foreigners there too.
I will much appreciate your feedback and opinion.
Note: I will be in PV for one weekend at the end of July.
    Hope hear from you.
    Thanks,
    Carlos
