In California, Member Profiles, Thinking of Moving to Vallarta, US, Where We are From

Status: Single
Employed or Retired:  Employed
Where are you living now / where are you from:  Southern California
Timeframe for a move:  2017
Where else are you considering:  Only PV
Why Vallarta:  I’ve been visiting PVR since 1994 and have simply fallen in love with the town, the people, culture, art, food, weather and so many other attributes this wonderful town has to offer.
I am so pleased there is a relatively sizable expat community here in PV.
How can ExPats in Vallarta assist you:  Many questions to ask regarding acquiring a visa, healthcare, renting apartment, cost of living, etc.   How do I reach out to communicate these questions/concerns to this website?

    Hi Juliana-
I live in Seattle and am a single mother. I have been to PV twice and love it as well. Although I try not to be drawn into the touristy part of living there. I am thinking of going back from mid-Dec to mid-Jan. I still work part time (I’m 62). My daughter, who is in college in NYC, will fly there to be with me for xmas but I will be alone for the rest of the time most likely. If you would like to chat and perhaps join me in a 2-br. for a couple of weeks, do get in touch. I have also been to Ajijic (Lake Chapala area). And I would like to go to the Yucatan for a few days while I spend my month in PV. I hope to hear from you!

    Hi Juliana,

We have lived here almost 13 years and would never return to live in the SF East Bay where I was born. I am a retired CHP Officer and can tell you that you are making a very good choice. We are missionaries here and teach English in an orphanage and other venues. I am very active and am a Chaplain for the local American Legion Post #14 here. I am more than willing to help if I can as I am a networking type of fellow and lots of folks come to me with questions. My e-mail is fstphoen@juno.com or hiswillhiswayministriespv@gmail.com. God bless.

    P.s. we live here fulltime.

    Hey Juliana,

I just wanted to say hello because your story sounds a lot like mine i.e. in love with Vallarta for all the same reasons, been visiting for the past 20-some years and hope to move there in 2017 as well. I was just there 2 weeks ago for the weekend and it was wonderful.

I’m so happy for this ex pat network and to have the opportunity to connect with others already living in PV who are so kind and willing to help others like us.

Best of luck in your plans!

    Isa

    Hi Juliana

I am moving to PV on August 10, 2016 to start teaching many different high school subjects at the British American Collegio (high schoo). I read your questions and I too see that I have the same questions. If I find the answers I would be happy to send what I find out and send the information to you. My email is cccraig@gmail.com. Regards, Craig Cothren.

    Hello Expats!

My good friend and I are pulling up our roots to move to PV, the END of November 2016. We have a hotel reserved for the time we are looking for a nice low rent (2 or 3 bedroom location, needs 2 bathrooms, AC, nice pool, by the beach and we MUST be able to have a small dog). We need HELP to find a place, ANY information or leads to even a good Real Estate Agent would certainly help. As we are very poor in Spanish; it would be best to have English speaking people to work with and a Building Manager, too.

Our budget is $800 to $1,000 USD Lowest possible if utilities are extra.

We would very much appreciate any help.

    Thank you!
