Kim & Mike Altman

Kim and Mike Altman are a semi-retired couple enjoying the Vallarta lifestyle. Kim has been an executive coach, consultant and trainer for many years. Nowadays, she focuses on one-on-one coaching. Her clients are professionals desiring an explosion in their effectiveness and efficiency.  Mike runs an Internet portal addressing the health and well-being of Puerto Vallarta’s expats and world travelers.

After visiting Puerto Vallarta for many years, we moved here from Newport Beach, California in 2010. We chose Puerto Vallarta because:

  1. We are “beach people.” We need a view of the ocean.
  2. We are “people-people.” We love to socialize with a dynamic group of interesting people like we’ve discovered in the Expat community here. Ex-pats are adventurous, accepting and couldn’t care less what you used to do for a living – it’s a classless society with class! Warm and welcoming – like everyone else down here.
  3. We are “business people.” Although we only work part-time, we rely on Puerto Vallarta’s infrastructure. We enjoy high-speed, reliable Internet, low-cost telephone service and a host of quality supporting services like Office Max, Mail Boxes Etc. Office Depot and Costco.
  4. We are “seniors” and the availability and affordability of quality health care here takes a tremendous burden off our minds.
  5. We are “plugged-in”. The expat community here is a terrific resource! There are no problems that you will have that a member of our community hasn’t already solved and is ready and willing to help you solve, too! Maybe our motto ought to be, “No Problema!”?

Top 3 things we’ve learned:

  1. Not to believe the sensationalistic news reporting of violence in Mexico. We worked in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area for 40 years and there is no place in Puerto Vallarta that isn’t far safer than much of L.A., day or night!
  2. Mexican hospitality is not a myth created by a public relations firm. It’s the real deal! From vendors you meet on the beach to the folks in the immigration office, they are all genuinely friendly and welcoming. They are not envious or suspicious of outsiders. Can you say that about the folks back home?
  3. We came for the weather, the food, the exotic people and the affordable paradise, but we’ve stayed because we’ve made so many friends and have shared so many good times with them, that life without Vallarta would be very dull and uninviting.

A question: Does the physical location in the city have different carriers so that one should be aware of where to rent to get the best carrier????
