Hi Lamond, my name is Dennis Janson. Have lived here 13 years in September. The buses and taxi’s are good here the bus cheap only 1/2 price ($.35 pesos) with a local senior card). Taxi’s minimum $60 pesos. Buses go most everywhere and go some places you would not believe i.e. dirt roads.

Are you a veteran. We have a very active group of veterans in the American Legion here and lots of activities for all Expats.

Lots of rentals now as it is low season. They want gringo renters so will accommodate you especially if your long term rental. When we came down we rented the first year. They wanted $3500 pesos a month but I told them if they gave it to me for $3000 a month I would pay for a whole year in advance and they accepted. You can and most times expected to negotiate. There are a lot of cheap but very clean hotels while you look around. The people here are great during the daytime. I am a retired California Highway patrolman and can tell you it is very safe here but one always needs to be aware of their surroundings. There are occasional petty crimes such as pickpockets etc. If you stay away from the nightclubs it is even safer as that is where most of the lowlife hang out. We had some dumb Canadians guys (2) go to an ATM with a drug dealer and they got robbed and killed. But that is a rare occurrence here, but not in the USA, It is far safer here than the USA. We got to dinner, walk the malecon etc. at night with many other Mexican and gringo families and it is very safe and festive. I was born and raised in the SF East Bay and I would never move back to the states to live. We now own a home and have great neighbors and love the people and town and travel all over Mexico safely. I am considered a networking type guy here in PV so feel free to ask me questions. I have two e-mail addresses. The one above is for our ministry as we teach English in a local orphanage to the kids and also to a large Mexican Church, But you can also use my daily e-mail which is fstphoen@juno.com

I recommend public transportation. Depending on where you live, you can get to most places by walking. Buses and taxies are cheap. ENJOY!
