In some ways it is sad to see these senior folks who have left their homeland and families to spend their last stage of life in a foreign tropical life with folks like themselves. It reminds me of the number of couples we have met during our vacations around the pool at our resort in PV advising us to spend all our money on ourselves before we [die] and are reborn into the state we were before we were born into this world.

I am the grandson of grandparents who stayed with us in San Francisco until they also parted this life, however they left us their home …. and the advice and requested promise that we would never sell her house. We live here still today, and have raised our three daughters, and after their marriage, had to take them back in along with their children. Today our middle daughter and her three grown sons live in the home that my wife’s mother left her.

Our eight grandchildren look upon us their grand parents as someone special as we get together on birthsdays and holidays. Our three married daughters look to the time that we are also gone for the financial support of their inheritances. I wonder since my wife and I have lived in the house that my grandparents built in 1924, and we have lived in the house a longer time than they had, will I who have lived in the louse most all of my life, stay back as a ghostly presence for the some 15 years that my grandmother did?
